- Browsing is the dominant feature of hypertext systems of information.
- The various PC-Hypertext commands for browsing <FILE56 BROWSING> are:

- Arrow keys The easiest approach to browsing uses the Up/Down
- ========== arrows to select topics in both ASCII and network
- files, the ENTER key to shift the display to the
- selected topic, and the ESC key to return to the
- network.

- Number keys With network files, press NUMBERS to move the cursor to
- =========== that topic. Press ENTER to select that topic.

- Level changes With network files, press the RIGHT arrow to select
- ============= subtopics (same as pressing ENTER). Use the LEFT arrow
- or press the DEL key to move to parent topics.

- Back jumps After selecting a sequence of jumps with ASCII files,
- ========== press F3 to jump back to previously displayed files.

- Scroll select With ASCII files, the PLUS (+) and MINUS (-) keys scroll
- ============= a highlight line to select jumps to other files.

- Vertical scroll The PgUp/PgDn, HOME, and END keys scroll the text in
- =============== both network and ASCII files.

- Horizontal scroll With ASCII files, the RIGHT and LEFT arrows shift the
- ================= display horizontally to display information from column
- 1 to column 255.
